Nayland currently has over 100 listed buildings some of which date from the 14th century, including St James’ Church, which was a chapel-of-ease to Stoke-by-Nayland until the 18th century. The pub is very unusual in that it grows most of its own vegetables aswell as rears it's own meat, so those worried about their food miles can eat here with a clear conscience.
